Students after completing a diploma in Mechanical Engineering can take a wide variety of higher education pathways that advance their knowledge and career prospects. Among the most sought-after choices is pursuing a B.Tech or BE in Mechanical Engineering through lateral entry. The duration of the course is reduced to three years. Alternatively, one may choose a special undergraduate course in Mechatronics, Robotics, Automotive Engineering, or Thermal Engineering. Diversifying the skills with short-term certificates can be availed in CAD/CAM, CNC Programming, or HVAC systems.
Postgraduates, in the form of Master of Technology (M.Tech) or Master of Engineering (ME), are available for study after graduation in Mechanical or any other allied branch. International opportunities like master's programs in countries like Germany, Canada, or the US have great research and special field prospects. Management programs like MBA are also a great opportunity for those diploma holders to get into leadership roles in the engineering industry. Government job exams like GATE, UPSC, or state engineering services can be attempted to enter some of the prestigious public sector roles.
