Every university has its own requirements for admission to a BSc IT program. Some universities require their students to clear entrance exams such as CUET, NPAT, or even some University-set examinations that test the candidates' Computer Science, mathematics, and logical reasoning skills, while others have Class 12 merit list admissions, where students with the highest marks in Mathematics and Science are accepted. Most of them set a threshold that ranges between 50 and 60 percent for the qualifying examination.
Private universities and autonomous colleges tend to have their own requirements for entry, whereas government colleges may need state or national entrance examinations. Students should research the schools they are planning to apply to, as some might require the student to submit proof of extracurricular activities and conduct interviews. The entrance examination ensure the students have the required skills which are technical and analytical, particularly for IT studies. To prepare for these examinations, students normally practice questions of quantitative ability, logic reasoning, and even basic programming, depending on the content of the exam.
