Can I study B.Tech after a Diploma?

Yes, students can take admission in a B.Tech with a completed diploma. It happens to many as they further and advance in life. India specifically has Lateral Entry scheme by which diploma holders directly get into the second year of the B.Tech program. This enables you to complete the remaining three years of the B.Tech course without attending the first year, which generally deals with introductory topics. The Lateral Entry scheme is available in many engineering disciplines like Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, and Computer Science, among others.

Admission into B.Tech through Lateral Entry is mostly granted based on your good academic performance in your diploma course (in most cases 50% or more marks). You would also need to take an entrance exam, such as a state-level Lateral Entry Entrance Test (LEET), or perhaps even university-specific exams. This route can be an excellent way to improve your technical acumen, create opportunities for you at the workplace, or even pursue higher studies, like M.Tech or MBA, after B.Tech. Aspects that pave the way to the greater benefits of these courses.
