How long does the B.Pharmacy course last?

The B.Pharmacy is an undergraduate course that will equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for a career in the pharmaceutical industry. The duration of the course is four years, divided into eight semesters, with each semester focusing on specific subjects. During the course, students cover topics such as pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, drug delivery systems, and the role of pharmacists in healthcare.

In general, the initial year of B. Pharmacy provides exposure to major foundation subjects that include human anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and the very basic pharmaceutical science. The other years of pharmacy would involve intense exposure to formulation, clinical pharmacy, pharmacokinetics, and the regulatory part of the pharmaceutical industry. Often, the last year is an intensive practical training period in either a hospital or pharmaceutical company as a part of their internship experience.

Graduates with a B. Pharmacy degree can take on many different positions within the pharmaceutical industry. Such roles can be in research and development, quality control, or marketing. The interested ones may go on to further study with M. Pharmacy or pursue a career in clinical practice. More than this, graduates may become registered pharmacists working in hospitals, clinics, or retail pharmacies.
