To gain admission into CSE, students must often pass a series of some necessary procedures. Firstly, one must successfully pass the higher secondary (12th) grade in science background especially with the core subjects: mathematics, physics, and chemistry. The next step would be to qualify for national or state-level entrance exams, such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, or other regional exams like BITSAT, depending on the university or institution they wish to apply to. Many universities also conduct their own entrance exams. Candidates, after clearing the prescribed exams, may attend counseling sessions where they may choose the preferred colleges and courses according to their rank and the availability of seats. A few institutions even provide merit-based admissions, and students are ranked based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. After being admitted, a B.Tech or B.E. may be undertaken by the student. in Computer Science and Engineering, which usually takes four years to complete.
