How to get admission in Mechanical Engineering?

To get into a Mechanical Engineering course, candidates have to fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by the institution they choose. In India, students should have completed 10+2 education with core subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and secured a minimum percentage (50–60%, depending on the institution). Admission can be made through entrance exams like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, or state-level exams like MHT-CET, KCET, or WBJEE. Some private universities conduct their own entrance tests or offer direct admissions based on merit.

Candidates must apply for these exams, prepare well, and get a good rank. After the exams, students attend counseling sessions where they choose colleges and courses according to their ranks. Diploma holders can also opt for lateral entry into the second year of B.Tech/B.E. programs. One needs to research institutions, understand their admission process, and meet deadlines. Some universities may also consider extracurricular achievements or aptitude in engineering-related activities.
