What are the main topics that students study in an ITI Electrician?

The ITI Electrician course covers the following fundamental electrical concepts: electrical circuits, wiring, magnetism, electromagnetism, domestic and industrial wiring, single-phase and three-phase connections, and electrical safety procedures. The subject of electrical machines transforms, generators, and motors is studied for their working, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The practical training includes installing electrical systems, repair faults, earthing, and grounding methods. In addition, the curriculum includes power distribution systems, electrical measurements, and energy-saving techniques.

Students are taught the technical skills to operate in a professional environment while also being knowledgeable about electrical codes and regulations that guide industry practice. Students have hands-on practice in fault detection, circuit breaker operation, and motor winding. The safety measures that involve electrical shock and fire protection are included throughout the course. More advanced topics can be renewable energy systems, automation, and basic electronics. This all-round training equips students for careers as electricians in industries, construction sites, and power plants, besides self-employment in electrical services and maintenance.
