B.Pharmacy is a four-year undergraduate program aimed at teaching a student the elementary concepts of pharmaceutical sciences, starting from drug discovery, formulation to dispensing. It covers such topics as pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, biopharmaceutics, and pharmaceutical engineering, thereby preparing graduates for careers in healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry through the development and research of drugs, formulation, and distribution of the same.
During the course of study, one learns the medicinal effects of a variety of drugs, the safe use of a drug, and how to prescribe medical treatment relating to drug utilization. A training in techniques carried out in laboratories and gaining insights into science knowledge about drugs in action. Thus, at graduation, these candidates can opt to work in hospital pharmacies, dispensaries, or companies manufacturing pharmaceutical products as research professionals, regulatory and quality control analysis, or assist in managing drug clinical studies. They can then further study into M. Pharm or even entrepreneurial ventures such as pharmaceutical enterprises. The B.Pharmacy also creates a door open to the sector of teaching or public health organizations and other supervisory organizations where medicines are sold and dispensed.
