What is Electrical Engineering?

Electrical Engineering is a branch of engineering that focuses on the study, design, development, and application of systems and devices that involve electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. It is one of the core engineering disciplines and covers a wide range of topics, including:

  1. Power Systems: The generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power, including transformers, circuit breakers, and power grids.

  2. Electronics: The design and application of electronic circuits and components such as semiconductors, transistors, and integrated circuits (ICs).

  3. Control Systems: The use of sensors, feedback loops, and algorithms to control dynamic systems like motors, robots, and industrial processes.

  4. Communication Systems: The design and implementation of systems for transmitting data, such as wireless communication, satellite systems, and fiber optics.

  5. Signal Processing: The analysis and manipulation of signals, which can include audio, video, or electrical signals for various applications like noise reduction, compression, and enhancement.

  6. Instrumentation: Designing devices that measure physical quantities like temperature, pressure, and voltage.
