The D.Voc in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning is a Diploma in Vocational Education program designed to equip student with necessary practical and theoretical knowledge required of them in the refrigeration, air conditioning and HVAC industries. This course is therefore intended to equip the students with skills in the installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of refrigeration and air conditioning systems that are applied in domestic, commercial and industrial applications.
Basic Thermodynamics and Refrigeration Principles: Even if a person has a professional knowledge of designing refrigeration cycles, it is useful to start with the basic idea of the concept of refrigeration, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
Air Conditioning Systems: Classification of air conditioning systems, components of air conditioning and heat removal, and operating principles.
Refrigerants and Lubricants: The knowledge of various kinds of refrigerants and lubricants used in the refrigeration systems, and their relevance to safety and the environment.
Maintenance and Repair: Trade skills particularly in diagnosing problems, repairing and serviced of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
Installation Techniques: Practical lessons in the process of installing different types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
