What is the difference between Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and Aerospace Engineering?

AME and Aerospace Engineer are two significantly dissimilar occupations in the aviation and aerospace careers but employed by aviation, aerospace companies, and organizations.

Basically, an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) specializes in ensuring that aircrafts are safe for use and conform to the prevailing legal requirements for use. Including themselves in the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhauls of the aircrafts’ casc, engines, and avionics structures. They are relevant for maintaining safety and that airplanes are kept serviceable.

On the other hand, an Aerospace Engineer is concern with the development of our airplanes, space machinery, satellites and any other related structures. Aerospace engineering has numerous sub-discipline branches which include aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, material science and many more on structural design.

That is, while AMEs sustain and service existing planes, aerospace engineers design and develop new aerospace products.
