What is the difference between Electrical Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering?

Electrical Engineering (EE) and Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) are two separate branches of engineering; however, they tend to overlap in modern technological applications. Electrical Engineering is the branch that deals with electricity, electromagnetism, and electronics within studies and application. Topics such as circuits, power systems, control systems, communication systems, and signal processing come under the sphere of EE. The professionals in EE design, develop, and maintain electrical equipment, which includes power grids, motors, and electronic devices.

On the other hand, computer systems, algorithms, and software development are mainly computer science and engineering, which can also include a lot of areas like programming, data structure, artificial intelligence, software engineering, and networking. CSE professionals design and develop hardware systems, data storage solutions, and software applications.

EE is more oriented towards hardware and physical systems while CSE is oriented towards software and computational systems. However, both EEs and CSEs are essential for technological advancement. Whereas EE prides in the physical parts that power and control devices, CSE takes pride in the software that drives the entire show.
