The ITI diesel mechanic course extends from 1 to 2 years, although this may change according to different institutes and varied curricula in the course. This course deals with the broad knowledge and practicing skills of repairing, maintaining, and servicing diesels and auxiliary machinery. Basic topics include fuel systems, engine components, and cooling systems together with troubleshooting skill sets, adequately preparing students to work in a variety of job positions in either the automotive sector or the industrials.
The course has theoretical and practical training modules so that students are able to grasp the concepts theoretically as well as practically. The first year involves foundational concepts and basic engine maintenance, while the second year involves advanced diagnostics, repair techniques, and specialized machinery. After this course, a student is capable of working as a diesel mechanic in transportation, construction, or manufacturing industries. The duration is slightly different with respect to institute structure and inclusion of additional certifications or apprenticeships.
