The civil Draughtsman is a vocational training designed to equip students with skills in civil drafting and design. It runs for 2 years, divided into 4 semesters, with one focusing on each aspect of civil engineering drawing, construction techniques, and other software tools such as AutoCAD. The course is designed to have both theoretical and practical learning experience, which ensures that the student is introduced to the whole basis of drafting, building codes, and project planning.
Besides classroom teaching, students have industrial training or internship to understand practical experience. The course helps candidates prepare themselves for jobs in construction, architectural, and civil engineering firms for working as a draughtsman, CAD technician, or design assistant. Students are given certification at the end of the course, recognized by the NCVT or SCVT of their respective state council, to improve their chances of employment in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
