What is the eligibility for a BA degree?

For an undergraduate degree like a BA, the eligibility differs slightly between universities but is pretty much the same. Most need a high school diploma or similar qualification. However, the major requirement for colleges and universities, though, would be to pass secondary education in subjects such as English and all other core subjects with a specified percentage. Also, the normal age range requirement is 18 years and above, but other institutions have requirements based on specified age ranges, etc. Additionally, candidates should have passed their higher secondary education, that is, 10+2 from a recognized board.

Specific eligibility also depends upon the chosen specialization within the BA program. For example, courses might have subject prerequisites, for instance, history or political science for those who focus on humanities or social sciences. In some cases, there may be a subject proficiency test or an entrance exam, particularly for competitive institutions.

For students coming from non-science streams, such as arts or commerce, a BA is a very popular choice because of the broad curriculum that covers all sorts of disciplines, including literature, history, and psychology. However, one must check with the specific requirements of the institution that one has chosen for the most accurate and detailed information.
