Generally, a pass in 12th from a recognized board and higher secondary education are the common eligibility criteria in India for taking up a Bachelor of Commerce, B.Com course. The 12th standard should have had Commerce as a main stream; however, students from other streams such as Science or Arts may also be admitted in some colleges, provided they achieve the minimum aggregate marks as prescribed by that college. The percentage varies from 45% to 60%, according to the different universities or colleges. Entrance examinations or interviews might also be there in some institutes for the admissions.
Along with academic eligibility, the age is not a concern, although certain universities specify some age criteria. The necessary documents, like mark sheets, certificates, and an identity proof, are also to be submitted at the time of admissions. Some colleges even require students to have studied such subjects as Mathematics, Economics, or Accountancy in their senior secondary education to qualify for certain B.Com specializations. Candidates must also check the particular eligibility requirements for the institution one is applying for.
