Students who have completed their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as core subjects from a recognized board are eligible for admission in B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE). Most universities and colleges expect students to score a minimum aggregate percentage (typically 50-75%) in these subjects. Furthermore, candidates need to appear for and pass entrance examinations such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, or other state-level engineering entrance examinations for admission into reputed institutions. A few private universities conduct their own entrance examination or offer direct admission on a merit basis.
Holders of a Diploma in relevant engineering fields may apply for lateral entry into the 2nd year of the B.Tech CSE program. Most universities do not enforce cut-off ages, although some may have restrictions. Equally qualified international students are also eligible to apply, considering they meet the standards of the respective universities. Good analytical, problem solving, and programming skills are advantageous to students pursuing this course.
